Love, A Year Later

I saw his profile first…admiring his eyes and kind smile before closing the tab.

My D
Then I got a message from him. I forgot how on that website you can see who was looking at your profile.

We message back and forth on site until we exchanged Skype ID.

The first time we chatted on Skype we spent over 8 hours straight just talking. Yes, 8 hours!

That was last March 2013.

We broke up…we made up

This time around, last year I was waiting anxiously to meet him.

I flew all the way to Melbourne to meet him for the first time and was introduced to his lovely parents. This picture below is our very first picture together taken by a passerby in Lorne, Victoria. A picture I will always treasure forever.

Our first photo
We spent an amazing 3 days together. Why 3 days you asked? Because we both had to work.

Hard to believe it’s been a year already.

Within this one year span we’ve been through so much already – maybe a lot more than normal couple would. He has been standing strong besides me as I deal with so many things in my life. Things I can’t share here on this blog. He gives me strength to face the demons from my past. Really, words are not enough to describe how grateful I am for his love. This is the man that believes in me so much that I finally believe in myself too. This is the man that sees something in me I didn’t even know I had.

That is love…

He shows me what true love really is. It’s not just mere saying “I love you” a million times a day. It is compassion, giving, supporting, empathy…it is pushing one another to be the best version of individuals that we were born to be. It is knocking old beliefs that don’t serve each other. True love is many different things with him and for showing me that I am so grateful.

I am a truly lucky woman and he always makes me feel special, loved and supported.

Here’s to many more years together, D…I am ready for more joy, more love, more happiness, and like you eloquently said in your email this morning:

I am so very proud of you My Darling Girl, I will look forward to more great times, more challenges, more fun, more disappointments, more love, more emotions and more of everything that says WE ARE TOGETHER IN LIFE .Thank you for this M, thank you for being my twin flame that helps keep my fire alight. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.

I am ready!

Thank you for being my best friend, lover, partner, teacher, guide, strength, my fiancé. Thank you for being you.

How bout you? Do you celebrate your anniversary? Or if you are married just your wedding anniversary? C’mon share. I’m a sucker for love stories.

i found him during separation. kinda like he entered the test directly. i’m glad he came out a winner though.

at first, i could not help but think that he’ll be just a passer by. someone who’d helped to cheer up and that i’d only see his real skin later. amazingly he only got better by time.

we are of different religion. my birth mother is half arab and a strict muslim, i was adopted and raised by conservative and muslim javanese. my bf came from a religious christian family and pure chinese (as in no mix at all).

a lot of hesitation at first, but he’s been showing only support and respect towards our different beliefs. his parents are not supporting us, mine either and you can bet on that. but he keeps telling me that we are doing okay. that there may be a lot of resistance, and that is to be expected but it would not matter if we stay strong together.

the thing i love most about him and us:
    – he would still come and help my son with school homeworks even when i’m not in town
    – he makes regular contact with my son even in my absence (calls, messages)
    – we argue with respect towards each other. we don’t scream, nor yell
    – we had disagreements, but never a fight
    – we exchange thoughts and do a lot of dialogues about our religions –and we are not even religious :))!

Awww I LOVE reading your story! What a great guy he sounds to be. Dating a single mom is not easy and really I strongly believe only special men can do that and to see their bond with our kiddo? Precious isn’t?

I wish you all the best. Religion shouldn’t divide people that’s how I feel. 😀
