Wellness Wednesday 6: Brown Sugar Honey Facial Scrub

Welcome to week 6 of our Wellness Wednesday Linky Party, lovelies!

This week I choose to blog about my beauty secret:

I swear by this scrub and have been using it for over a year. It will get your skin glowing in just a matter of minutes, it is all natural without chemicals, plus you probably already have all the ingredients to whip it up in your kitchen right now!

Why Organic honey? Raw organic honey contains anti-bacterial properties, as well as anti-viral and anti-fungal. Most store bought regular honey are no longer pure, they are overheated and pasteurized losing many of the natural benefits.

Here’s what you need:

  1. Natural/Organic Honey
  2. Brown sugar (organic is best of course)

Honey Brown Sugar Facial Scrub

How to make your facial scrub:

Honey Brown Sugar Facial Scrub

  • Mix approximately 1 tablespoon of each ingredients to find the right consistency.
  • Store in airtight jar.
  • To use: wet your face, get just the right amount of the scrub and start scrubbing. Avoid your eyelids as they are delicate. Start scrubbing and rinse well. You can also use this scrub to smooth your lips just don’t rub too hard it will take the dry skin out.
  • They last for about a weeks so making small batches is best or just make them as you want to use it.

That is it! Very easy right? I swear by them plus it cost less than store bought facial scrub. Give it a try and tell me how you like it.

I’ve never thought of using brown sugar! I always just stuck to white, and was never really happy with the results- too abrasive, I felt. Brown sugar seems a bit softer, so it makes sense that this would work so well for you. Love your link party too, will definitely have to join next time around 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

My fav skin treatment is coconut oil, sugar and a hint of lemon or lime. Makes me feel amazing!

  7. February 12, 2015 / 3:51 am

When I was a teenager and my mom wanted to keep me away from all the crazy meds that are given against acne, I used to do a similar scrub. If I am not mistaken, we used lemon instead of the honey (but I am not 100% sure).
Thank you for the awesome linkup!

This sounds like a great facial scrub. I love DIY products like this. I much prefer to make my own so I know what exactly is in it, so much healthier and sometimes more frugal as well.

  18. February 13, 2015 / 10:18 am

I LOVE this face wash, I couldn’t agree with you anymore that is is great for your skin. I one that you don’t have to go shopping just to get ingredients for the scrub. These are all things we have in our homes

  19. February 13, 2015 / 12:48 pm

I have actually tried this before! I haven’t done it in some time but I love how it made my face feel. I think I will have to make it again soon. My face felt so clean and fresh. So smooth and my pours didn’t feel as huge! Thank you for sharing!! I totally forgot about this! =D

  20. February 13, 2015 / 7:47 pm

I didn’t know you could do this, and I’m a sucker for home made beauty products! I’ll have to try this sometime and see how it goes. Your pictures and instructions are really clear, so this is quite useful.

    February 13, 2015 / 11:48 pm

That sounds so delicious! I can see myself doing this once a week. I love facial products that have natural ingredients as I have sensitive skin.

  23. February 14, 2015 / 4:09 am

Now this looks interesting and easy to do. We actually have the ingredients available at home already. But this one reminds me of my cold wax before. :p

  24. February 18, 2015 / 7:41 am

Hmmm I think I will end up adding some tea and drink it ha ha…sounds yummy scrub and easy to make too. Worth trying indeed and a proven one 😉

  25. February 23, 2015 / 10:52 am

I think you should also add lemon or lime to reduce the stickiness by a bit. the lime/lemon juice also adds a glowing effect after scrubbing!

  26. February 23, 2015 / 2:34 pm

this is a great DIY tip and one that I swear by, especially when all else fails. My face is extremely sensitive so at first, I was a little hesitant to use it because of the sugar but the honey is super soothing to my skin. Many of the most popular products in Korea are based on DIY recipes but cost around $10+ each–makes me feel pretty good to not only put products on my skin that are 100% natural but also be able to save money.

  27. April 15, 2015 / 12:44 pm

Ill try this now. Will my zits be dried if i use this mixture?
