If you are following me on Instagram (if not, what are you waiting for?) you’ve probably seen that lately most of my pictures are full of fitness/gym related.
Although I’ve been working out since April of last year, this year started off with me deciding to return to the gym. After ditching the gym for home workout using DVDs since July 2012, I know I need to kick things up a notch. Plus, I can’t afford heavier dumbbells.
With me returning to my old job, friends and colleagues suddenly got interested in what I’ve been doing. “What did you do?” and “How long did it takes?” were fired rapidly at me.
Sadly, there is NO magic pill. It takes a lot of self discipline and hard works to get to where I am today. Some of my colleagues quickly loose steams and stop working out, some to my surprise, actually got more fired up.
Like my two girls, Farrah and Diana!
Diana has been working out using Turbo Fire from home and she’s been doing so well with her clean eating.
Farrah loves to jog. She runs in the morning before work but she wants to take things seriously also learning what clean eating is all about.
So all three of us signed up at a gym nearby my place…FUN and hard works!
Armed with training plans from my bestie Ms. T, we leashed out our Beast Mode and worked hard at the gym 3 times a week after work. We now are using Jamie Eason’s Live Fit program.
It was during my bench press set that I came to realized how much I’ve missed the ‘bar’. It’s that intense satisfaction knowing you pushed and gave your all to get the bar up that fired me up. The shake of your muscles when you reached that failure state. The feeling of you could barely walk the next day because you killed all your leg day ‘menu’.
I am hooked!
After the holiday, after indulging on oh those yummy foods, I am so ready to return to clean eating and sweating it out. Of course I felt guilty for enjoying cookies and all the goodies Christmas brought to my house. It took a friend, a beachbody coach to tell me that it is OK to indulge during the holidays. It’s what we eat during and how hard we workout to take care of ourselves in that 11 months following the grand holidays that really counts!
THIS IS NOT A NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION
Inspired by the awesome Alison’s blog post about one word for the New Year, I think it’s pretty obvious what mine would be.
It’s a word I’ve been living and pretty much breathing it.
It’s no longer about loosing weights. It’s a lifestyle of choice. It’s about eating healthy and working out.
Physically, I feel stronger. Remember my herniated discs? It makes me being mindful of my forms while working out at the gym. Also? I quit weighing myself because it would just drive me crazy. Instead I follow the non-scale victories!
Just a couple of days ago I asked my BFF, Ms. T…
“Is this normal? Uhm…my jeans are kinda loose on the waist but tight on the thighs.”
“I get that too. That’s normal! From all the squats!”
That, folks…brighten my day to the max. Let there be glutes too while those squats are working.
Also, knowing that I could inspire friends or families along my way? Sure feels hella awesome! Just a few days ago, someone message me on Facebook saying she read the blog, she likes the way I write and she’s now inspired to be healthy. Thank you, dear new reader! Let’s do this together.
