No, I Didn’t Just Push A Baby Out Of My Vagina, I Just Have Big Boobs!

So last week I finally decided to take a huge leap…

I joined a gym!

For the first time ever in my life, mind you. Aside from the fact that I’ve been hitting a plateau in weight loss journey, I know the time couldn’t be more perfect than now to completely push myself.

Found this nice little gym not far from where I live, went there on Monday to check things out and yes, it’s a perfect place for me. Those mall gyms are just not for me besides their obnoxious price tags of course. This one isn’t packed with buffed up people that will make me feel like a total failure.

Met a Personal Trainer guy who offered me a free 1.5 hour session with him and of course offered his assistance. So I braced myself and came to gym ready to be tortured by this guy on Tuesday morning.

FYI, I never work out in a gym before other than the girly girl classes in my younger days, so this is a whole new territory for me and yeah, I was a nervous wreck the night before. Those machines seems scary to me. Mrs. Redsoxangel can testify to that!

My first session with the guy went really well. He didn’t bark orders like Jillian Michaels but he pushed me when I feel like I just wanna give up and crawl to a corner because I’m so out of shape. I sweat like there’s no tomorrow and my heart rates were sky rocketing.

After 1.5 hours of torture exercise, we had a little talk by the receptionist area. He gave me lots of inputs on how I can shape myself and not only lose these excess weights but to gain muscles.

Did you just had a baby?

Obviously, he can see I have big boobs although I had to bind them that day before I put on my sports bra.

Uhm, yeah…5 years ago!

He apologized then went on to tell me that I just need to focus on my mid sections and chest area since my legs are pretty toned from all the power walks I’ve been doing.

The next day, I braced myself for an aerobic class. Many moons ago back when I was still single, I used to do this with my girlfriends along with other classes. After a fun one hour that again, made me sweat-a-ton, the trainer and some of us sat around talking.

Did you just had a baby?

This time, the question came from a women in the aerobic class. It stunned me…made me glance down to my boobs – again, I bind them securely with a stretchy non-adhesive bandage – it made me wonder does lactating mother who works out bind their boobs? I honestly don’t know! Somehow, I managed to mustered up a smile and said the exact same thing I told the Personal Trainer guy.

Yeah, 5 years ago.”

She was embarrassed then went on to asked what my bra size. Clearly from the look on her face, she never even heard of a double cup sizes! Hah! The trainer saved the awkward silence by saying I can work on my chest muscles and even threw in some information about this Doctor that can do breast reduction *cues for boob lift funds*

Asides from the fact that I know Indonesians people love to make comment on your weight and appearance in general, this felt like a pang because two different people said the exact same thing to me , two days in a row.

Was it the bandaged boobs?

The reason why I bind them is because the sports bras I have right now doesn’t give me the full support I need. Plus working out with big boobs is not fun and them girls has served as excuses for me to not working out for years! Did you know I hate running with a passion? So, until I can afford those pricey expensive sports bra, the non-adhesive bandage will have to do. Yes, it made my chest looks all weird but hey, it’s better than having them girls jiggle around while you’re working hard on the treadmill! Better than not working out at all.

Anyway, besides the boobs comment, I truly am enjoying working out at the gym and this comes from someone who hates exercise!

Those comments slapped me to push harder and drag myself to the gym despite the aching body parts. Oh, I’ve never been this sore! But that’s just signs that I’m doing the right thing.

I’m still far away from being toned…there will be plenty of sweats and even tears but I’m not giving up. Oh and by the way, seeing the numbers went down on my scale this morning felt hella good!

Do you work out at the gym? What’s your motivations to keep pushing through?

Hi Sujatha, thank you for stopping by first of all.
I do hope to make this a habit – of working out at the gym – so I’ll gain more benefits than just loosing weights 😀

Good for you, keep going! I don’t go to the gym at the moment, although seriously thinking about this as I’d really like to get healthier. I really enjoyed your story and writing. First time visiting through ‘Picketfence’

Funny is, how I started doing the whole gym thing…it was almost like a spur of the moment thing because I saw the Gym when I took my son to school and said to myself I need to check it out. I came, I paid the membership then just start going lol.

i do gym since 3 years ago, one of those in-mall gym, since it was the closest to home.
been slacking though, for the last three months, since after sometimes it do gets boring…. but still i haven’t had the heart to cancel my membership though… the motivation is because i think (and haven’t change since i started) that this is my investment for my current and future health. well, i hope, at least i’m putting an effort. Being sick is so freakin expensive. I have an office colleague who just got an infection and a stroke in his mid 30s age, underwent a brain surgery to remove the clot in his left brain, half paralyzed for sometimes and now underwent a lengthy physical therapy to recover his motoric ability, and had maxed out the insurance from our company half way through his series of procedures…. while there are still operation he has to go through later…). And off course, because i just love to eat hehehe.
if only you can transfer a cup size of you boobs to me….. i would be soooo happy….

Hi Dian, yes…I’m with you on the long term effect. Actually, it was right after my father got really sick last November that I realized I need to make a lifestyle changes badly! So I started by replacing my sugar (for coffee) with those artificial sweetener and cutting sweets all together out of my diet. Why? Because diabetic runs in my family so it was like a wake up call because as they say, I’m in a high chance of getting it too. That’s great that you are doing that tho’ although you have been slacking at least you are aware of the benefits 🙂
Oh, girl…believe me if I can transfer these boobies through ATM I’d be asking for your account number by now LMAO!

Eversince I went back to school, I’ve never hit the gym anymore! I know its a lame excuses, but after a long day at school and than work, by the time I get home, I was already exhausted! My kind of exercise is Zumba, I love it!! In fact, I lost 15 lbs from it! But that’s before I started school.
I promise, this summer, I will walk more with my dogs, and hit the gym for zumba. Oyen, if you can do it… I can too!

Indy, believe me I know about lame excuses but I can relate!
Back when I was still working the office job, I really have no time to squeeze gym to my already crazy schedules of work + commuting.
I’ve heard lots of great things about Zumba but haven’t try it yet but now I’m pretty focus on toning and shaping myself after all my weight loss since two years ago.
You can do it girly! I’m cheering for you! 😀

I started doing exercise (Zumba) last year for about 4 months, I lost almost 20 lbs. Even though I lost those lbs, there’s no much difference on my upper body (yes for sure my thighs & legs are much slimmer). My body figure is same like yours, having big bones & boobs is always a tricky one (good thing is you’re much taller than me..lol). So started 2 months ago, I’ve been going to the Gym 3 times a week. I really want to tone up my arms & tummy (hopefully fixing my boobs issue as well) with using those luxury machines.

    Good luck for us 🙂

Way to go, girly! Keep it up 😀 That’s a lot of weight for sure so don’t give up. Right now I’m going 5 days a week just because I’m still very new and really enjoy it. Actually, I woke up on Saturday hoping I’m going to the gym. Hah! That’s pretty crazy coming from someone who hate exercise. Never thought in a million years I’d be thinking like that 😉
I really do hope we both can do something naturally about out boobs hahahaha. It’s really a pain!

Hey, I was going to say “You go, Girl!” but your mom beat me to it. That’s quite funny that two people asked the same exact thing – I love Asian culture and their self-conscious emanating remarks. Well, your mom supports you and that’s all that matters! You Go, Girl!

Hell, nothing wrong with having bodacious tatas. I usually tell people to mind their own business when they start prying, but I tend to be a little mean to nosy people.

Wow, people have some nerve to just make assumptions and comment. I guess maybe there they don’t see any cup size beyond a size A? Ha, if they were in the States, they’d think everyone just had a baby since so many have larger chests (whether natural or enhanced through plastic surgery). I say, embrace what God has given to you and don’t be embarrassed about your chest!

I laughed at this post while feeling your pain at the same time. That’s just a shame; even if I thought it I’d never ask it. I assume you’re not tall since my wife is well endowed also but she’s 5’10”. Don’t worry about it; you’ll show them as you get more fit. 🙂

Uhh… so nice to have big boobs, at least when you burn enough you know it wont go away completely hehehhe
normal size boobs would need implant after rigorous training, i mean look at all those women with muscle that go to competition

well i know my comment seems silly about boobs size, but reading magazine where women go into muscle competition with implant breasts scare me

but anyway, love it the fact that you work out to get a healthier lifestyle rather than just succumb to diet and pills…
it is a encouragement for me too to be better in my trying to be able to work out everyday

    cheers,
    di 🙂
