So I had finished my second month of Chalean Extreme yesterday!
The second month is called the Push Phase and appropriately so because it really was super challenging for me and I had to push myself harder throughout the workouts.
“Go Heavy or Go Home!”
That’s the mantra that Chalene Johnson keep saying and it really sticks in my head and keeps me going.
Push Phase started off shaky for me because I had to take a few days of rest when I just started from my annoying lower back pain. I quickly catch up with the workouts though and I was using heavier dumbbells. At almost the end of it, I was using two dumbbells in one hand. Crazy? You bet! But it was because I couldn’t get heavier dumbbells so instead of staying with the 5kg (11lbs) ones, I added the other sets of dumbbells weighing 2kg (4lbs). Hopefully I could get some heavier dumbbells soon.
I.was.sore but loving every minute of it. Seriously, I think I’ve found my soulmate workout!
The huge difference between Push Phase than Burn Phase (first month) was the reps. During the first month we were told to aim for 12 reps each. This time, 8 is your max but since you are lifting heavier, it surely pushes yourself to work harder. At some movements, I failed at 6th reps which is good enough and gradually I was able to finished the 8 reps.
My biggest challenge was doing the Single Leg Deadlift! It requires good balancing skill and having a lower back problem, this one was hard.
Speaking of lower back problem, it started right after I had A. It became a part of my life but lately, it’s been flaring up so badly. Especially after I do the Burn Intervals or Burn It Off which is the extreme cardio parts of Chalean Extreme. I was forced to do the lower impact on some moves because of it.
The plan is for me to go see a doctor next month so we’ll see what he/she have to say.
This month I did not lose an amazing amount of weights or inches. Am I upset? No, not really. I’ve seen changes on my body and I feel great so that’s what matters most. My weight actually fluctuated between 60kg (132lbs) and 61kg (134lbs) but I’m happy with the numbers. No longer do I feel obsessed with weighing myself daily. Now, once a week is enough.
Here are the stats:
What confused me is my hips. The measurements went up! My optimistic side is happy because I never have a butt before! Yup, you got that right…I am flat down there. My friend T says if I do a lot of squats then it helps out shaping those suckers. Well, Chalean Extreme does that! Squats with weights. So yeah, let’s settle with: that means I’m growing some much needed padding down there!
And as usual, the progress pictures.
From the first look, they look similar, as if not much changes but when I zoom it in I can see my waist have more definition although I only lost a tiny bit from that area. My midsection is the most stubborn area because that’s where I store most of my fat.
Anyway, I’m excited that some of my friends are giving Chalean Extreme a try. Hope you’ll enjoy it, ladies!
